The final meeting of the EU project “SVAROG 2017”
The final meeting of the EU project “SVAROG 2017”, summarising all project activities, was held at the Hotel Antunović in Zagreb on January 18, 2018. The exercise held in Dubrovnik in November 2017 was analysed during the meeting and the administrative and financial aspects of the project were reviewed. The meeting was attended by representatives of the National Protection and Rescue Directorate and representatives of project partners from Montenegro, France and FYR Macedonia.
The EU project “SVAROG 2017” started in February 2017, co-financed by the European Commission through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism. The total eligible cost of the project is EUR 377 432. The overall objective of the project was to enable operational procedures in receiving, providing and coordinating international assistance provided by aerial and ground firefighting forces, while the specific objective of the project was to familiarize participants with modern technological tools used to better manage firefighting and to unify new tactics and strategies for a more efficient firefighting.
Three workshops were conducted within the project – in Croatia, Montenegro and France, as well as the "May - Fire Protection Month" media campaign, within which different events were organized in each partner country. A photography exhibition was organised in the Republic of Croatia, on the subject of firefighting and forest fire protection. The main project event was a Table-top firefighting exercise held in Dubrovnik from 14 to 17 November 2017, aimed at exchanging best practices among firefighting commanders with regard to new technologies and strategies for fighting wildfires, and at enhancing coordination of international firefighting forces when receiving or providing international assistance.
The project ends on January 31, 2018.
